Wahoo Kickr Trainer

For several reasons I have decided that cycling is going to be my exercise of choice to assist in losing weight. Because I live in Michigan, getting an indoor trainer is required. Well maybe not for the hardcore cyclist with a normal 40 hour work week, but for me, required.

Because this is not a review of the trainer itself, I will not go into all the reasons why I chose the Wahoo Kickr 2018 trainer. Just know that I did a lot of research and it made sense to go with this trainer.

There are several ways to purchase this trainer, going to https://www.wahoofitness.com/devices/bike-trainers, and buying directly from Wahoo or going to your local cycling store as I did. (https://www.alpinecycles.biz/)

So one of the issues that I noticed with buying directly from Wahoo was that the trainer came with the wrong cogset for my bike. I currently ride a Raleigh Bikes Willard 2 Gravel Adventure Road Bike that has a
Shimano Sora HG-400 9 Speed, 11-32 cogset and the Kickr has a 11sp Shimano cassette.

Now it is easy enough to replace the cogset yourself, but you have to have the right tools and you have to purchase the cogset itself. Not to be stingy, but this means you have to spend more money and the Wahoo Kickr is already breaking the bank a little.

list of tools and cogset required(for my setup):

My local shop, exchanged the cogset that came with the Wahoo Kickr and replaced it with

and set my bike up on the Zwift App.

Of course the choice is yours, but I would suggest buying from you local shop rather than purchasing from Wahoo directly. Definitely if you have a different cassette than the one that comes on the Kickr.

My journy to loose close to 70 pounds starts now. If you would like to follow the journey, please bookmark this site.
